TWO MIC leaders today called on Datuk Seri Azmin Ali to quit the Pakatan Harapan federal government immediately in wake of the infamous gay sex video scandal that has had rocked the country for the past few weeks.

Penang and Kedah MIC chairmen, Datuk M. Nyanasegaran and Senator Datuk S. Ananthan respectively, said Azmin should first clear his name and come clean from the shameful gay sex scandal which had implicated him.

“Hence, Azmin’s immediate resignation from all government positions is imperative and warranted,” insisted the duo, both whom are also the MIC central working committee (CWC) members.

“Azmin can always return after clearing his name from the scandal.”

Nyanasegaran said the federal government should allow the police to carry out an independent and impartial investigation into the sex video scandal and publicly reveal their truthful findings.

“There shall be no cover up.”

Ananthan said the gay sex scandal had embarrassed the country internationally and the people were fed up with Putrajaya’s feet-dragging in tackling the scandal.

He said Putrajaya’s indifferent attitude in tackling the scandal had mocked the doctrine of rule of law and good governance.

“The Pakatan government cannot go on dragging its feet over the embarrassing scandal.

“Pakatan is insulting the intelligence of the people and ridiculing political moral conventions,” chided Ananthan.

The gay sex video allegedly featuring Economic Affairs Minister Azmin and Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz has been circulating all over the social media post-Hari Raya celebration.

Despite numerous calls for Azmin’s resignation from the Cabinet, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad had arrogantly defended the minister, in sharp contrast to how he humiliated his former deputy Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over a similar scandal some 20 years ago.

Mahathir has not only hastily dismissed the gay sex video as fake, but also claimed that a political conspiracy was behind it to topple Azmin.

Nyanasegaran and Ananthan pointed out said that Pakatan government top brass cannot become investigator, judge and executioner all at the same time to sweep the gay sex video scandal under the carpet.

Nyanasegaran said it was palpably wrong for Mahathir to prematurely dismiss the gay sex video as fake and inisuate a political conspiracy.

He said Mahathir should refrain from applying tacit political pressure on the law enforcers to shape their investigations over the sex video scandal befitting the premier’s political agenda.

“People are not interested to know whether it was a conspiracy or not. They want to and have the right to know whether it was Azmin who featured in the sex video with another man,” insisted the outspoken Nyanasegaran.

Ananthan said that Mahathir perhaps thought he could deploy a delay tactic to let the scandal fizzle into the thin air.

“Perhaps Mahathir thought people would forget about the scandal.

“In the current information world dominated by the social media and internet savvy people, Mahathir should realise that his old political style was not workable,” rebuked Ananthan.

“Mahathir must order Azmin to resign immediately and allow the law enforcers to investigate and reveal their findings publicly. There is no two ways about it.” – 28 Jun 2019.
